Design and Synthesis of Particles and Films for Retention, Transport and Release of
Molecules, Proteins and Nanoparticles
Project Leader: Sara Aldabe Bilmes
We synthesize "custom-made" particles and oxides films (SiO₂, TiO₂, ZrO₂) -with controlled pore sizes- which are used to hold molecules or to synthesize nanoparticles from ions in solution. Our goal is to provide new ways to retain and remove heavy metals in water, or to degrade potentially toxic molecules present in water.
We also aim to design nano-vehicles for molecules or proteins transport, both of which can be released by a stimulus, either in cells (as in nanomedicine) or in plants (as in nanoagriculture).
